Central Public Library - Hamilton, Ontario
The Central Public Library, located at 55 York Street in Hamilton, was renovated in 2010. The newly renovated building offers a modern design which incorporates large expanses of windows to take advantage of the natural light. It was awarded the Library Architectural and Design Transformation award in 2012 by the Ontario Library Association.
Hamilton's Central Library has dedicated spaces for the books, materials, and programs. Many of these spaces are partitioned with glass walls and doors which takes advantage of the natural light and offers a feeling of spaciousness. Evolution Window Films worked with McCallum Sather Architects Inc. to create custom window graphics for some interior glass walls and doors. Window graphics offer branding, an improved visual guide to help prevent people from walking into glass, and signage to identify certain spaces.
